cool thanks. It looks like I should be able to reuse the stock lines. they
come VERY close to the 400 fittings so I figure I should have no trouble
cutting the ends off of the lines (the stock lines seem to be just a little
bit longer somehow) and rebending them to the right spot.

Yeah if I stick with the stock lines, I'll probably go into the radiator
first since thats where they already are. If I decide to go with braided
lines, I'll probably run them to the cooler first.

hrmm, I was hoping someone (maybe I can call B&M or Trans-King tomorrow
about it) could just tell me how I should adjust the cable for the reverse
pattern trans. Also, the paperwork that trans-king sent with the trans says
that I have to hold the trans-brake button to shift to reverse. I guess that
means to put the car in park I also need to press the button since I'd be
coming from the drive gear?

overdrive.

I was told the 4l80e wouldn't fit. Even it could fit, I know that many many
people were able to get a 400 to bolt up to the back of an LS1 and I know
that at least one person was able to get a 400 and GV to work in a 4th gen.
(hey George). If someone else out there somewhere wanted to take the
initiative to be the first to try a 4l80e swap, feel free, but I wasn't
looking to be the first to do such a thing, trying the GV is more than a big
enough challenge for me. I also didn't want to spend the money ona 4l80e to
find out it doesn't fit. Also I'm not sure the 4l80E is lighter, I don't
really know. The trans was about 135 dry (and it's really friggen heavy when
you're trying to carry it out to mom's minivan from your office by yourself)
the GV was about 60 pounds dry. Figure the weight of the fluid, electronics
and dipstick and then compare it to the wieght of a 4l80e. Either way, I can
be somewhat sure that what I have now works.

As I said, overall I'm pretty happy with the whole install so far. I'm a
little bummed that I'll need new exhaust but maybe I'll try out that dual
3.5' or dual 4" Denny has been pushing. At this point, I'm really hoping to
be able to say that it runs within the next two weeks. Spring break is next
week so I might try to take a day or two off from work if it's good weather
to really bang out some details (unfortunately my boss is on a end of the
quarter, better get it done kick :/ ). With the trans in place, the
heavy/hard work is done. Now it's just a matter of getting all of the little
tedious things put together.

Also, one more question - I don't need the speedo that I paid 100$s for in
the th400 anymore. Is it fine to leave the sensor in the trans unplugged?
Also, should I cover the electroncs of the sensor with something or not a
big deal?

Thanks again to everyone I have bothered the past several months for all of
the help, much much appreciated.
