Current MembershipsFBody.com (Auto Enthusiast)
I am the founder and sole proprietor of a national car club for Chevy Camaro
and Pontiac Firebird owners known as FBody.com. This club was founded in the
mid-90s and is free from sponsors, advertisers and censorship, although we
politely ask members to be sensitive about what they post so that the website
doesn't get blocked by other organizations (such as employers) who do censor
free speech.
As an auto enthusiast, and a consumer, I am against the CAFE standards as well
as any other federal legislation that simply adds unnecessary costs that the
consumer is forced to pay. Based on what types of vehicles I see on the road
everyday, most of us consumers aren't looking at fuel efficient when we
purchase a car. We are looking at style, performance, cargo room, handling. If
fuel economy was so important to the people, more people would be driving
hybrids. We the people want comfortable, stylish, fast, affordable cars, and
we want them to be cheap. EPA regulations have only added to the cost of cars
and have failed to reduce in any significant way the pollution from
automobiles.
NYRA Youth Rights
I am currently a member of the National Youth Rights Association (NYRA). The
NYRA is
"a national youth-led organization with over 7,000 members
and chapters in a dozen states. We support lowering the voting age, lowering
the drinking age, repealing government curfews, protecting student rights and
fighting age discrimination."
As a youth rights advocate, I would seek to lower the voting and end all
policies that are age discriminatory. We currently have legal, teenage workers
who lack representation in government and yet in our schools, we teach these
students the line "no taxation without representation". The
NJ
Department of Labor has set a minimum working age of 12. At age 12, citizens
can begin to pay taxes, but they have no voice in how their taxes are spent. It
is my opinion that anyone who is "old enough" to work, must be represented
in government. As a member of Congress, I would seek to lower the voting to
twelve years of age. At this age, these people will be able to voice their
positions in government which has a direct effect on their immediate futures.
With our current age discriminatory policy, someone who is fifteen this coming
November will be unable to vote. However, in 3 years, before they are eligible
to vote, they will be forced into selected service and eligible to join the
military, never having had the opportunity to have their views represented.
Furthermore, the tax dollars paid in by this group is often used to further
discriminate against them in the form of the Graduated Driver's License (GDL)
program and other such policies.
Past MembershipsBoy Scouts - Troop 134
"back in the day", when I was just a young boy (15 year ago?), being a boy
scout was fun and exciting. My father and older brother came on all of the
camping trips and the scouts provided a great program to learn random
tasks, most famously, how to tie a few knots, which I've probably
forgotten. This is an organization that, at least when I was part of it,
took pride in itself and we, the members of the boyscouts, participated
in many community activities such as cleanups, food drives, etc. I recommend
that young men take a look at what the boyscout have to offer these days
and sign up. I presume that the girlscouts provide a similar and great program
and recommend that young women research the girl scouts as well. For the
record, I'm against allowing boys to join the girl scouts and allowing girls
to join the boy scouts but I'm the one to make those rules so it's not my
business on how those organization make their rules. I also see nothing wrong
with allowing known gay or lesbian leaders as that alone does not make someone
a criminal, however, should a leader conduct themselves criminally, they should
be punished in accordance with law (and harshly).
